Electrical Engineer – Design & Site Supervision (x3)
Join our Team as an Electrical Engineer – Design and Site Supervision!
We’re seeking three (3) experienced and motivated Electrical Engineers to become key members of our engineering and design department.
In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering capital projects that involve installation of electrical assets ranging from 11kV to 330kV at substations across the country.
We’re looking for individuals with experience in developing electrical designs for substations, Solar PV plants and Transmission systems. The engineers must have proven experience in leading site teams and actively overseeing site work to ensure high standards of health, safety, and quality are always met.
Position Overview
In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering capital projects that involve installation of electrical assets ranging from 11kV to 330kV at substations across the country.
We’re looking for individuals with experience in developing electrical designs for substations, Solar PV plants and Transmission systems. The engineers must have proven experience in leading site teams and actively overseeing site work to ensure high standards of health, safety, and quality are always met.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate our work Programme to ensure adequate resources are available and prepare Construction Phase Plans for our sites per the local requirements.
- Develop Electrical designs for substations, Solar PV plants and Transmission systems.
- Review and interpret engineering designs and drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications related to electrical assets such as transformers, Circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, transmission lines etc.
- Supervise the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment in substations ranging from 11kV to 330kV.
- Coordinate contractors and the construction team to meet contractual conditions of performance.
- Prepare engineering estimates, method statements, and material schedules for each project phase.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and clients.
- Supervise and manage all day-to-day operations on the construction site.
- Ensure staff, contractors and sub-contractors are fully inducted on site, carry out toolbox talks, and receive safety documents as necessary.
- Review work progress daily and ensure timely project delivery.
- Maintain detailed and accurate site reports and documentation.
- Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.
- Resolve onsite conflicts and handle any emergencies that may arise.
- Coordinate pre-construction site surveys and advise management on scope, constraints, and resource needs.
- Order materials for projects as and when required, including tracking orders and invoices and processing quotations from numerous suppliers, whilst ensuring our sites have adequate welfare provisions available and plan and order welfare as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Proven experience of 8 – 10 years as an Electrical Engineer or in a similar role in electricity substation environments ranging from 11kV to 330kV.
- Training in Project management is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, and site management.
- Strong knowledge of power systems.
- Proficient in MS Office and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Understanding of Zambian design standards, SADC design guidelines, and site QA/QC processes.
- Strong analytical ability, leadership, team coordination, and excellent communication skills.
- Licensing: Registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
